One of two suspects is finally in custody more than two years after the deadly shooting of a 36-year-old man in broad daylight in Cabbagetown.

Toronto Police say the killing unfolded near Sherbourne and Shuter Sts. shortly after the noon-hour on July 23, 2023.

Officers responded to the shooting and found a man inside of a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound.

The victim died at the scene and was later identified as Mohamed Ahmed.

The Toronto Sun previously reported that the Toronto man was the brother of Mustafa Ahmed, the Juno Award-winning rapper known as Mustafa the Poet who had ties to a Regent Park collective known as the Halal Gang .

Barely a week after the killing, Homicide detectives sought warrants for the arrests of two suspects .
