Following a loss that exposes many of the same issues that have plagued a team since the beginning of their season, not many would expect a coach to praise his club’s effort as their high water mark.
But that’s how Soo Greyhounds head coach John Dean saw things play out in a 4-2 loss to the Guelph Storm on Friday night.
“That’s our best game we’ve played all season,” he said.
To his credit, the Hounds did strike iron on at least four occasions throughout the night, and they outshot the Storm 30-18.
Nevertheless, the result echoed Wednesday’s 3-2 loss to the Flint Firebirds — another case of failing to finish.
“Our boys deserve a lot better based on chance generation, chances against, zone time, opportunities, you name it,” Dean said. “But we have to score.”
