AVONDALE, AZ (AZFamily) — A woman is fighting for her life after being shot inside an apartment in Avondale on Saturday morning.

Just before 6:30 a.m., first responders were dispatched to the Rio Santa Fe apartments, near Dysart Road and McDowell Road, for reports of a shooting.

Police found a woman with a gunshot wound before she was transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition.

One person has been detained and police believe there is no current threat to the community.

At 11 a.m., the scene remains active. Arizona’s Family crews saw red and yellow crime scene tape up as detectives continue their investigation.
