The East Kilbride YM family came together today to pay their respects to club legend Derek Brownlie ahead of the club's West of Scotland Fourth Division clash with West Park United. ‌

And Derek's heartbroken widow, Laura, admitted she has been 'overwhelmed and deeply comforted' by the 'outpouring of love' the family has received since he passed away last Sunday, following a brave nine-year battle with cancer. ‌

Towering defender Derek captained the club as a player and volunteered his services there later in life, during a 41-year association with his beloved YM. ‌

The 59-year-old was also a well-known and popular face in the town, having been an officer in the Boys' Brigade, a former mechanical inspector at Rolls-Royce and a volunteer for the Kilbryde Hike which
