A ground stop was issued at Charlotte Douglas International Airport Saturday morning due to staffing issues related to the federal shutdown.

The ground stop was issued around 7 a.m. and was lifted by 9 a.m. The airport said it was caused by staffing constraints in the Air Traffic Control tower.

“With a prolonged federal shutdown, disruptions become more likely,” CLT Airport said in a post on X. “This morning, CLT experienced staffing constraints in the ATC tower, one of many contributing factors to delays and cancellations within the national airspace system.”

While the ground stop was lifted, the FAA said a ground delay will be in place until around 2 p.m.

The airport commended the dedicated ATC and TSA staffers, who are working without pay due to the shutdown.
