A German nurse has been sentenced to life for the murder of 10 patients and the attempted murder of 27 others. The palliative care nurse, who has not been publicly named, was found guilty of injecting his mostly elderly patients with painkillers or sedatives to ease his workload during night shifts.

The said incident occurred between December 2023 and May 2024 at a clinic near Aachen in western Germany, CNN reported.

According to a spokesperson for the Aachen court, the crime was severe, meaning the nurse had little possibility of being released after 15 years, the minimum time allowed for a life sentence in the country.
