The Gujarat government, which is celebrating the 150th birth anniversary of tribal icon Birsa Munda, said in a statement issued on Saturday that it has resolved to celebrate 2025 as the ‘Tribal Pride Year’. The statement also said genome sequencing of tribals, as announced by the government in July last, wo uld be a part of this . The government said that 31 tribal groups from 11 districts would be covered. As a result of the commitment to “empower tribal communities”, Gujarat has become the first state in India to launch a comprehensive genome sequencing project focusing on tribal communities
