President Trump reportedly wants the Washington Commanders to name their planned $3.7 billion stadium after him, according to ESPN , which spoke with multiple sources familiar with the situation.
Back-channel communications have taken place between White House officials and the Commanders’ ownership group, led by Josh Harris, about the president’s desire to have his name on the new D.C. stadium. The stadium will be built on the old RFK Stadium site.
Commenting on the matter, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told the outlet via email, “That would be a beautiful name, as it was President Trump who made the rebuilding of the new stadium possible.” She added, “It’s what the president wants, and it will probably happen.”
The Commanders declined to comment through a spokesper
