South Bruce Peninsula has wrapped up its 2026 budget deliberations with a proposed 3.25 per cent tax rate increase.

The town finished its deliberations at a special meeting held in Wiarton on Friday in just the first of four meetings that had been scheduled for the process.

The budget proposes to collect just over $13.5 million from taxation, which is just under $563,000 more than in 2025 and a tax levy increase of about 4.3 per cent.

The proposed budget, which still requires final approval at an upcoming meeting, strikes a balance between fiscal responsibility, continued investment in critical infrastructure and community priorities, it said in a news release issued Friday by the municipality.
