HONOLULU (Island News) – The Honolulu Police Department (HPD) is investigating an apparent attempted murder incident that occurred in Waikiki early Saturday morning.

Police reported that the incident happened at approximately 12:21 a.m. when officers responded to an assault in front of the Waikiki Beachside Hostel on Lemon Road.

HPD stated that a 50-year-old man visiting the island was allegedly assaulted by a 43-year-old man without provocation. As a result of the incident, the 50-year-old man sustained severe head injuries and was taken to the hospital.

Officials did not elaborate on what condition the 50-year-old man was taken in or the details of the attack.

The 43-year-old man was arrested for Attempted Murder in the Second Degree.
