A 42-year-old man was killed after losing control of his vehicle and striking a utility pole early Saturday morning on Long Island, Nov. 8, police announced.

The crash happened around 5:12 a.m. when the man, driving a 2025 Mazda northbound on Grand Avenue near Ethel T. Kloberg Drive in Baldwin, veered off the road and hit a utility pole, according to Nassau County’s Homicide Squad.

He was the sole occupant of the car and suffered serious injuries. The driver was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead by a physician, detectives said.
