In Class 11B, fourth-seeded Deuel pushed No. 1 Elk Point Jefferson to the wire before falling 43-36 and third-seeded Clark-Willow Lake fell to No. 2 St. Thomas More 50-14.
Defending state Class 9AA champion Hamlin, the fifth seed, lost to No. 1 Freeman-Marion/Freeman Academy and two-time defending state Class 9B runner-up Faulkton Area, the fourth seed, suffered a 22-16 loss to No. 1 Dell Rapids St. Mary.
