CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WAND) - The Illinois Women's Basketball team prepares to welcome the Illinois State Redbirds to State Farm Center this weekend.
Both teams are 1-0 entering Sunday's matchup. Illinois won its season opener 91-67 against SEMO. Forward Berry Wallace scored 27 points in the game, the most in an opener since Genesis Bryant scored 28 at Rutgers in January 2025, per Illinois Athletics .
Illinois State beat the Dayton Flyers 87-76, as the Redbird starters combined for 74 of the team's 87 points. ISU is coming off a 24-13 season, good for fourth in the Missouri Valley Conference. The team even advanced to the Fab Four of the WNIT, falling just short of a championship appearance after losing 99-96 to Troy.
