This weekend St. Aidan’s Episcopal Church in Boulder was a place where people of all faiths gathered to fight food insecurity.
Thursday through Saturday, St. Aidan’s, 2425 Colorado Ave., hosted a community effort to prepare tens of thousands of nutritious meals for kids in need. The meals will be distributed by Feed My Starving Children, a nonprofit that sends healthy food to young people around the world.
More than 120 volunteers put on hair nets and spent Saturday morning filling bags with essential food items, including rice and vegetables. Volunteers participating in the shift cheered each other on as they worked.
Amanda Barker, assistant priest at St. Aidan’s Episcopal Church, shared that volunteers surpassed their goal of packing 100,000 meals over the course of three days. By the
