NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Hugh Freeze 's time with Auburn football is over, throwing the program into its third coaching search in five years. It's also putting a pause on Diego Pavia 's winning streak against Freeze-coached teams.
The Tigers take on No. 16 Vanderbilt on Saturday, Nov. 8, ( 3 p.m. CT, SECN ) with Pavia helming the Commodore offense. Last season, he brought them to Jordan-Hare Stadium and won. He made the same trip the year before with New Mexico State and got the same result. In 2022, Pavia kickstarted his streak. The Aggies beat Freeze's Liberty Flames hours after news broke of Freeze leaving for the Plains.
With the string of wins outlasting Freeze's Auburn employment, it'll be up to interim coach DJ Durkin to lead the underdog Tigers. His defense bottled up
