The number of consumers availing electricity subsidies in Delhi has seen a steady increase over the past eight months under the BJP government, compared to the same period last year during the previous AAP administration, official data shows.
The Delhi government provides free electricity for consumption up to 200 units and a 50% subsidy on monthly usage between 201 and 400 units. This electricity subsidy scheme is one of the flagship initiatives launched by the former AAP government.
According to official data, a total of 49.6 lakh consumers availed the subsidy in October this year. Of these, 26.5 lakh received zero electricity bills, while 23.04 lakh benefited from the 50% subsidy. In comparison, October last year saw 47.7 lakh beneficiaries, with 24.6 lakh receiving free electricity
