Collegedale employees used a municipal credit card to purchase over $4,000 of food in a six-month span, according to a state comptroller investigation.
The report is now calling into question the lack of policies governing city expenses.
City employees spent an average of $686.63 with the card per month between late 2022 and mid 2023 to dine at local restaurants and chains.
Here's a sample of those "questionable" food purchases:
The largest expense was $514.09 to Marco's Pizza for a retirement party. The smallest transaction, $16.50 to Chick-Fil-A, had no note left behind describing why it was purchased.
One expenditure made was at a local nail salon, but the employee later reimbursed the city.
