A scuba diver has died after being pulled from the water at Nelson Bay.
Emergency services, including local officers alongside police attached to Marine Area Command and the Raptor Squad, rushed to Fly Point about 11am where a woman believed to be aged in her 50s had been taken from the water unconscious.
Paramedics tried to save her at the scene before she was rushed to Tomaree Community Hospital in a critical condition.
Officers reported that she died there on Saturday, November 8.
She has yet to be formally identified, police said, adding that an investigation was underway into the circumstances of the tragic incident.
In an update on Sunday, November 8, police alleged the woman's death was possibly the result of a medical episode.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
