ATLANTA, Ga. -- Part of Interstate 75 northbound in Clayton County is closed Saturday night due to flash flooding, according to the Georgia Department of Transportation.

All lanes are shut down near the intersection of Interstate 285 at Mile Marker 238.

GDOT cameras showed crews blocking the lanes, though darkness made it difficult to see the extent of the flooding.

At this time, there is no estimate for when the interstate will reopen.

Heavy rain and storms moved through metro Atlanta and north Georgia Saturday as part of a weather system that produced severe thunderstorms across the region. Some low-lying areas in metro Atlanta are especially prone to flooding during periods of intense rainfall.
