A 51-year-old suspect was taken into custody on Friday after a five hour-long standoff in Greenwood, following a stabbing that killed one person at a group home.

At 11:45 a.m., police responded to reports of threats with a knife at a house located in the 1110 block of North 84th Street, along Aurora Avenue, according to the Seattle Police Department.

Inside, police found a man suffering from life-threatening injuries consistent with stab wounds. SPD and the fire department administered medical aid. He was later pronounced dead at the scene.

Meanwhile, the suspect barricaded himself inside the residence and refused to surrender to police. A SWAT team responded along with hostage negotiators. After five hours, he exited the residence and was arrested.
