Police are investigating witness reports of a single gunshot fired near Dezi Freeman’s property on the day he allegedly murdered two Victorian Police Officers.
Investigators confirmed on Sunday they had conducted firearms tests in the area earlier this week as part of their ongoing investigation into the alleged shooting on August 26.
The testing took place in the vicinity of Barrett Lane and Rayner Track due to reports of a single gunshot in that area about 11.45 am on the day Freeman allegedly killed two police officers.
The area has since been searched by police, however no trace of Freeman was found.
“Investigators are hopeful that the firearms testing may assist police with the ongoing search,” Victoria Police told 7NEWS.com.au.
