The Big Bear Alpine Zoo has been transformed into a winter wonderland.
The venue will be illuminated by 1.8 million colorful lights as part of the inaugural Alpine Zoo Wild Lights.
The walk-through attraction, which began Thursday, Nov. 6, will run through Jan. 4. Ticket sales will fund the zoo’s wildlife rehabilitation program and Care for Big Bear’s conservation program.
Visitors can walk through four themed light zones that each tell a story that honors the mountain’s wildlife and natural beauty. Guests may also catch some zoo animals — such as mountain lions, foxes, raccoons, skunks, ring-tail cats, owls, coyotes, wolves and bears — in their nocturnal behaviors.
