WINTER HAVEN, Fla. (WCTV) - In a season, perhaps more dominant than the last, the Chiles Timberwolves defended their FHSAA 5A state volleyball championship on Saturday night, sweeping the Archbishop McCarthy Mavericks in straight sets at Polk State College.
The defending chance came out swinging as CHS took the first 25-15. The T waltz dominance was powered apart thanks to a 9-0 run off the service of Natalie Gibson.
The Mavs would answer with a strong start to the second set before Chiles eventually took control. A late offensive assault from CHS eventually gave way to a 25-19 set victory.
In true dramatic fashion, the final set group to be the toughest for the defending champs. The two teams were in a dead stalemate as late as 18-18 Robert before CHS would eventually pull away. The Ti
