Just when you thought the Edmonton Oilers could not play any worse in the 9-1 loss to the Avs of Colorado, they found a way.

Nothing went right for the Oilers, certainly not their goaltending, their defending or their attack.

The Grade A shots were 20 to 11 for the Avs with the subset of most dangerous 5-alarm shots 13 to four for Colorado.

Connor McDavid , 6. He won a n-zone board battle but lost the puck on an early breakaway, not getting off a shot. He made his first contribution to a Grade A shot half-way through the game, but the Avs were up for four by then. He moved in fast, lethal, cobra-like to snap in Edmonton’s first and only goal.
