OMAHA, Neb. —
Local veterans gathered, celebrating their experiences while enjoying some soul food on Saturday.
It was the third annual North Omaha Veterans Day Luncheon.
On the menu was catfish, ribs, smoked wings, brisket, and more.
Organizers said it's about providing veterans with the chance to spend time with people who have gone through similar experiences as them.
"You know, there's a lot of times when those of us who are veterans just have a tendency to maybe stay home or stay away from social gatherings. So having this luncheon right here in the community is an opportunity for folks to get together with people that share similar experiences. Kind of take away a little of that anxiety and just give an opportunity for celebration," said Vickie Reed.
