Travellers in Wales are facing significant disruptions to train services following a vehicle collision with a bridge in the Cwmbran area. The incident has resulted in urgent repairs being necessary, leading to all train lines being blocked between Newport and Hereford. Transport for Wales has announced that train services running through these stations will be cancelled, with disruptions expected to last until 1pm on 9 November.

In light of the situation, Transport for Wales has issued a travel warning, particularly for those heading to the Principality Stadium in Cardiff for the Wales vs Argentina rugby match. Fans are advised to check the latest travel information and to allow ample time for their journeys.

As a response to the cancellations, travellers will be permitted to use their Transport for Wales tickets on alternative train services. This includes CrossCountry trains for routes to Bristol and Gloucester, West Midlands trains to Shrewsbury, Birmingham, and Crewe, as well as Great Western Trains to Bristol Parkway and Bristol Temple Meads.

Additionally, a bus replacement service has been implemented between Newport and Hereford in both directions. However, Transport for Wales has cautioned that these buses will take longer than the usual rail services, urging customers to allow extra time to complete their journeys.

This situation is developing, and further updates are expected as repairs progress and travel conditions evolve.
