A family has launched a final desperate attempt to solve the mystery of a three year old lad who vanished during a game of 'follow the leader' nearly eight decades ago.

Peter Greenwood disappeared on a seaside walk with his brother and sister in Withernsea, East Yorkshire, on the evening of April 30, 1946.

The three children had been playing 'follow the leader' as they headed home from a local picture house, but when eldest brother Bill glanced back, Peter had vanished.

He was never spotted again.

Despite extensive searches and years of pleas in the local newspaper, no sign of the youngster was ever discovered, reports the Mirror .

Now, eight decades on, his relatives have revived their mission to discover what became of him.
