CHAPEL HILL — UNC basketball wasn’t going to find a replacement for RJ Davis, but Kyan Evans was the guy Hubert Davis and the Tar Heels chose to be their point guard for the 2025-26 season.
During his time as a sophomore at Colorado State, Evans played five games against Power 5 opponents, averaging 7.4 points in those matchups. Because of the inexperience against high-major teams, there were questions about Evans and his ability to translate his game to the ACC level and a blue-blood program.
In the first half of his first big game as a Tar Heel, an eventual 87-74 win against No. 19 Kansas , the 6-foot-2 junior guard looked like he wasn’t ready for the moment in front of nearly 22,000 people inside the Smith Center.
With No. 25 UNC (2-0) trailing by eight at halftime to the Jayhawk
