Nashville International Airport announced on Nov. 8 that there will be delays for incoming flights at BNA due to the ongoing shortage of air traffic control staff.
The Federal Aviation Administration issued a ground stop for incoming flights to BNA due to the shortage around 2:30 p.m. on Nov. 8, then half an hour later, announced a ground delay program for incoming flights.
Ground delay programs delay flights in order to manage traffic volume to airports with reduced arrival capacity, according to the FAA .
Ground delays were implemented as federal regulators began cutting U.S. air traffic by 10% this week .
On Nov. 7, 276 flights were delayed and 10 were cancelled coming and going from BNA, according to FlightAware.
Nationwide, 1,526 flights were cancelled and 24,712 were delay
