Meghalaya's Akash Kumar Smacks Fastest First-Class Half-Century With Eight Successive Sixes

Meghalaya batter Akash Kumar Choudhary on Sunday, November 9, created history to smash the fastest-ever first-class half-century, against Arunachal Pradesh, as the Plate Group teams took on each other in the Ranji Trophy in Surat. He also became the third cricketer in first-class history to smack six sixes in an over.

Choudhary achieved the feat on the second day of Meghalaya’s Plate Group Ranji Trophy game against Arunachal Pradesh in Surat. He smacked six sixes off left-arm spinner Limar Dabi in the 126th over of Meghalaya’s innings, joining an elite club alongside Ravi Shastri, Garry Sobers and South Africa’s Mike Procter, though the latter’s six successive sixes came across two overs.
