Riddle me this: Why - during a government shutdown when essential government employees such as air traffic controllers and airport screeners are forced to work basically as volunteers - should U.S. Congress members continue to be paid ? (“ FAA orders 10% cut in flights at 40 ‘high-volume’ airports amid government shutdown, ” Nov. 5).

How about suspending congressional pay and benefits until the government reopens? It appears to me all these other employees are not getting paid while still doing their jobs, while members of Congress get paid while not doing theirs.
