TAMPA, Fla. — A Florida Highway Patrol vehicle pursuit ended in a crash in Ybor City early Saturday morning, leaving four people dead and 13 others injured, according to the Tampa Police Department (TPD).
Around 12:40 a.m., TPD said its air service unit was monitoring a vehicle driving recklessly on I-275. The driver reportedly kept speeding before exiting the interstate at Doyle Carlton Drive.
Authorities said the vehicle, a silver Toyota Camry, was then believed to have been seen racing on Hillsborough Avenue near 22nd Street.
As the air service unit continued to monitor the Toyota, officers and state troopers said they eventually located the vehicle in the area of Palm Avenue and Nebraska Avenue at around 12:45 a.m.
TPD released helicopter footage showing part of the pursuit. State
