Former Bangladesh minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury has alleged a nexus between USAID and the Muhammad Yunus-led interim government in Dhaka. Speaking to Russia Today earlier this week, Chowdhury claimed that the US Agency for International Development (USAID) played a role in the unrest that led to the ouster of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in 2024.

USAID, the humanitarian and development arm of the US government, was recently dissolved by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) under Elon Musk’s leadership in July. Its foreign assistance responsibilities are now handled by the US State Department.
