Pakistani soldiers are reportedly abandoning several border outposts along the Durand Line, the 2,640-kilometer frontier between Afghanistan and Pakistan, amid fears that they are outgunned by the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which has amassed significant ammunition and firepower in recent months.

The TTP, also known as the Pakistani Taliban, is an umbrella organisation of Islamist militant factions formed in 2007. Operating largely in Pakistan’s tribal belt along the Afghan border, the group seeks to overthrow the Pakistani state and impose strict Sharia rule.
