Israel has received the remains of an Israeli soldier who was killed in Gaza in 2014 and who had been held in the territory since then.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office said forensic testing confirmed the identity of the remains to be those of 23-year-old Lt. Hadar Goldin, who was killed on Aug. 1, 2014 , two hours after a ceasefire ended that year's war between Israel and Hamas.
"The Israeli government shares the deep sorrow of the Goldin family and all the families of the deceased abductees," a statement said. "The government and the entire Israeli Defense Forces are determined, committed and working tirelessly to return all of our deceased abductees for a proper burial in their country."
