During its bye in Week 9, Florida State University athletic director Michael Aflord released a statement suggesting that Mike Norvell would remain as head coach through the remainder of the regular season.

Following the regular season, FSU plans to conduct a "comprehensive assessment" of Norvell and the program before the 2026 season.
Questions have surfaced about FSU and Norvell in recent weeks. On Oct. 31, Sports Illustrated reported that the program didn't have enough funding to fire Norvell, pay his approximate $54 to $59 million buyout, hire a new head coach, and fund a competitive roster in 2026.
