STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A 11-year veteran of the FDNY died at an all-hands Brooklyn fire Saturday, Mayor Eric Adams and FDNY Commissioner Robert S. Tucker announced in a joint statement.
Firefighter Patrick D. Brady, 42, of Queens, suffered a medical episode while operating on the roof of the Brooklyn fire, and he was transported to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center where he later died.
The longtime firefighter suffered a heart attack while responding to the blaze, officials said.
“The entire FDNY is heartbroken over the loss of Firefighter Patrick Brady. Firefighter Brady was a dedicated public servant, and firefighting was in his blood. We are thinking of his family, friends, and fellow members as we join them in mourning this immense loss,” said Commissioner Tucker.
