Newcastle were lucky not to concede a penalty against Brentford in a decision that left Arsenal legend Perry Groves baffled.

Dango Ouattara went down inside the box for the Bees following a challenge from Dan Burn, with almost an hour played.

The forward was shown a yellow card by referee Stuart Attwell for simulation.

VAR then reviewed the incident and stuck with Attwell's decision of no penalty, despite replays showing contact from Burn.

The Premier League Match Centre said; "The referee's call of no penalty and yellow card to Ouattara for simulation was checked and confirmed by VAR – with the challenge from Burn on Ouattara deemed to be minimal contact."

However, speaking on commentary for talkSPORT, former Arsenal man Groves was shocked by the decision from VAR.
