The Boston Red Sox have some questions to answer this offseason, but they’ll head into the winter boasting plenty of talent for a 2026 push.

MLB.com’s Mike Petriello ranked all 30 rosters to commence the offseason on Friday. The analyst placed the Red Sox at No. 7, identifying their two most significant needs to address.

“It’s excessively clear what the team is looking for here, because they’ve been pretty openly talking about it already, which is ‘a top starter to pair with Garrett Crochet and a power bat who can play the infield,'” Petriello wrote.

Petriello anticipated “a ton of rumors” to surface around free agents Alex Bregman, Pete Alonso and Kyle Schwarber. That prediction seems to be accurate thus far.
