OMAHA, Neb. —

An Omaha widow is spreading an emotional message about the cancer that claimed her husband’s life.

Breast cancer is the second-most diagnosed cancer in women, but it is about the least-diagnosed cancer in men.

Former educator Marlyn Washburn was diagnosed with breast cancer around Christmastime in 2016.

The 66-year old died in May of 2017, just five months later.

It was a rough five months that ended with his family by his side.

“You know, a lot of tears, but a lot of thankfulness that he was out of this,” with tears forming in her eyes, Pat continued, “He didn't have to fight anymore.”

Christmas 2017 will be Pat Washburn’s first without her husband.

“Yeah. I haven't thought about Christmas yet.”
