Srinagar- A fresh political row erupted on Sunday after Leader of Opposition (LOP) in Legislative Assembly, Sunil Sharma challenged Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to “swear on the holy Quran” that he hadn’t sought an alliance with the BJP for statehood in 2024.
Reacting strongly to the statement, Omar Abdullah took to social media platform, X (formerly Twitter), and said, “I swear on the Holy Quran that I didn’t seek an alliance with the BJP in 2024 for Statehood or for any other reason. Unlike Sunil Sharma I don’t tell lies for a living.”
The remarks came after Sharma, while addressing media persons during BJP’s campaigning program for its Budgam bye-election candidate, dared Omar Abdullah to take an oath on the Quran regarding his alleged attempt to form an alliance with the BJP.
