As the government shutdown continues, millions of Americans who depend on SNAP benefits to buy food remain in limbo. In an effort to help SNAP recipients, John Leary, the General Manager of George Street Co-op in New Brunswick, NJ, posted on social media that they would offer a temporary discount. But an hour later, they, along with other stores, received an email from the government telling them they couldn’t do that.
