At least 10 tremors jolted Japan within two hours after a massive earthquake of 6.7 magnitude struck its northern coast on Sunday, November 9. The Japanese authorities issued tsunami warning, advising people to remain cautious while incidents of power shortage also reported in some areas.
The Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA) recorded a 6.7 magnitude earthquake off the cost of Sanriku at 5:03 pm local Japanese time. The depth of the epicentre was estimated to be 10 km below the earth's surface.
The powerful earthquake triggered a series of tremors ranging between 4.7 and 6.3 magnitude on the Richter Scale, as per the JMA.
At least 10 such tremors have struck Japan since 5 pm, till the time of writing this report.
