Christmas season will soon kick off in the Scenic City with the annual Santa Claus Parade and the opening of the Festival of Northern Lights.
The Kiwanis Club of Owen Sound will hold its 80th Annual Santa Claus Parade through the River District beginning at 5 p.m. on Saturday (Nov. 15), after which the lights will be switched on for the 38th season of the Festival of Northern Lights along the banks of the Sydenham River and throughout Harrison Park.

This year’s parade, which will travel along its traditional 2nd Avenue East route, will have the theme, Memory Lane – A Trip Back to 1945, featuring parade floats inspired by the music fashion and joyful spirit of the event’s first year, the Kiwanis Club said in a news release.
