ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. — A woman has been arrested on allegations that she embezzled more than $24,000 during her time as a bookkeeper for a South Carolina school.

A warrant provided by the Orangeburg County Sheriff's Office claimed that, between May 1 and Oct. 13, Erica Jenai Bowman-Shuler intentionally embezzled funds while acting in her capacity as a bookkeeper for Edisto High School in Orangeburg County.

A warrant suggests that an internal audit uncovered unauthorized withdrawals, unrecorded payments and misappropriation of school funds. The warrant further states that Bowman-Shuler had "exclusive access" to certain school accounts and was responsible for "maintaining accurate financial records."
