NEW YORK (PIX11) – Two Major League Baseball players are accused of adjusting their pitches to help rig bets, according to U.S. Attorney Joseph Nocella.

Cleveland Guardians pitcher Luis Ortiz was arrested Sunday in Boston, prosecutors said. Emmanuel Clase, also accused in the betting scheme, has not been apprehended.

"Professional athletes, like Luis Leandro Ortiz and Emmanuel Clase de la Cruz hold a position of trust," Nocella said. "[They] sold that trust to gamblers by fixing pitches."

Both players are accused of throwing certain pitches in games so their "co-conspirators" could place high-cost bets, prosecutors said.
