In just his second start, New Orleans Saints quarterback Tyler Shough used a big-play passing attack to lead his team to a 10-7 halftime lead over the Carolina Panthers on Sunday in Charlotte.

Shough was 11 of 18 for 194 yards with completions of 62 yards (touchdown to Chris Olave ), 52 yards ( Juwan Johnson ) and 26 yards ( Alvin Kamara ).

The Saints kept Carolina's offense in check, giving up a touchdown on the opening series and then nothing else. Defensive end Cameron Jordan and defensive tackle Nathan Shepherd had sacks; it was the 125th of Jordan's career. Linebacker Demario Davis had an interception wiped out by a penalty.

Kicker Blake Grupe had a 21-yard field goal in the first quarter.

The Saints (1-8) will get the ball to start the second half.
