Cynthia Baer received the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution Community Service Award at the monthly meeting of the Chancellor Livingston chapter on Oct. 19 in Rhinebeck.

The award is given to individuals or groups for their volunteer work and contributions to their community over the last five years. It is a local award given by individual chapters, not a single national award.

The nomination process involved submitting a form to the local state chair and requesting three letters of recommendation.

Baer is president of the Rhinebeck Grange No. 896, as well as the treasurer of the Rhinecliff Fire Company and Rescue Squad, where she also coordinates the pancake breakfasts. She is also chair of the annual Chili Cook-Off and Field Day that takes place at Firemen’s Field,
