The Kansas City Chiefs desperately tried to bolster their roster at the trade deadline to boost their chances of reaching their sixth Super Bowl in seven seasons.

It was revealed on Sunday that the Chiefs had tried to swing a last-minute deal for Seattle Seahawks linebacker Boye Mafe at the trade deadline.

However, according to a report from NFL insider Adam Schefter , the 6-2 Seahawks pulled the plug on the deal right at the last minute, despite one source believing a deal had been completed.

It is unknown what Andy Reid 's Chiefs offered in the proposed package for Mafe -- a rising star who has so far been unproductive by his usual high standards this season.
