A New York City firefighter tragically died while battling a huge blaze in Brooklyn on Saturday night.

Patrick Brady, 42, went into cardiac arrest on the roof of a burning building at 9407 Kings Highway in East Flatbush. Brady, an 11-year veteran of the Fire Department of the City of New York (FDNY), and other firefighters rushed to the building after residents reported being woken by a fire that had started on the sixth floor.

Fellow firefighters and emergency teams immediately began treating Brady, who was then rushed to Brookdale University Hospital and pronounced dead, the FDNY said. A second firefighter and two civilians suffered minor injuries, officials said.
